Le personnage porte deux gourdes marquées de l'inscription "RR A oeuf", ses bras appuyés sur deux piles de livres, l'une portant les noms de plusieurs zoologistes et biologistes (Cuvier, Linné, Buffon) et sur l'autre pile "Théorie des ressemblances par le chevalier Da Gama Machado 1842". L'œuf est accompagné de cinq autres, de plus petite taille, portant les inscriptions "Reptiles", "Plantes", "Poissons", "Oisaux" et "Insectes". A l'arrière deux autres livres marqués sur la tranche "Incompréhensible" et "Inexplicable" accompagné de deux tortues. Estampillée "Fratin" sur la plinthe.
