HARAUCOURT (Edmond).

L'Effort - La Madone. Antichrist. Immortality. La Fin du monde. Paris, Pour les sociétaires de l'Académie des beaux livres, Bibliophiles contemporains, 1894. In-4, 144 pp. black half-box bradel binding, vertical title in light blue letters, author's name and date at head and tail in pale pink letters, black morocco banded crystal Plexiglas covers with the beginning of the title of the original cover in light gray letters, revealing the 2 covers of the preserved cover illustrated in color, black head, spine preserved, slipcase (D.-H. Mercher). First edition of this beautiful Art Nouveau and Symbolist book, edited by Octave Uzanne. The cover, false-title, receipt and title are illustrated in color by Léon RUDNICKI, followed by 4 tales, each illustrated on each page by a different artist and a particular technique: 18 original color lithographs by Alexandre LUNOIS for La Madone, 38 line-engraved and then watercolored compositions by Eugène COURBOIN for L'Antéchrist, 33 compositions by Carlos SCHWABE for L'Immortalité, including 10 etchings in black by Masse and 23 large floral stencil frames, and 46 symbolist drawings and a frontispiece (printed in matt gold) by Alexandre SÉON for La Fin du monde. Issued in an edition of 180 (or 182?) numbered copies on Arches vellum, watermarked in the margins (floral frieze, "Académie des Beaux-Livres" and author's name). Copy no. 42 printed for Gustave Deladerière, with a black suite. A very fine copy of one of the most beautiful Art Nouveau books, perfectly established by Mercher.
