model of a standing dignitary, richly dressed. Around his waist, he wears a protective belt used in the pelota game. His torso is covered with an exceptional multi-row ensemble of amulets. Orange terracotta with polychrome remains, age marks, a few tiny chips, good overall condition. Maya, Island of Jaina, Mexico, Classical period, 550-900 A.D. 19.5 x 10.3 x 5.5 cm Provenance: former Yvon Collet collection, 1968Sale ended
