The caption in divanagari scrip reads : " this is the elephant of Maharao Shatrasal Ji". Who ruled from 1866 till 1899 on the Rajput state of Kotah. The Maharao is seated on the elephant, is wearing a red band as a sign of royalty, is carrying a katar in his balt and an ankus in his left hand. The red bands on the legs of the elephant imply that this is a royal elephant. One of the attendants is carrying the yellow banner of Kotah State.
