STAMP AUCTIONS
A collector's item if ever there was one, stamps are always sought after and bought by demanding collectors.
Our specialist sales department is managed by Ludivine Pladepousaux, accompanied by our expert Daniel Berrous.
Our auctions cover French and international postal history, as well as collectible postcards, all of which are valued and appraised.
The Philately Department
Philately is a field that touches everyone. We have all come across a collector or collected stamps ourselves as children. Stamps are particularly difficult to value because of their sheer number and the nuances that exist.
On a stamp, our expert examines the cancellation, the indentation and the variety. He or she also looks for any printing errors that might raise the stamp's value. Stamps are also examined, and first-day stamps are particularly popular.
Among philatelic treasures, the most famous stamps are the Penny Blanck, issued in 1840 and the very first stamp issued, the Treskilling Yellow, a stamp with a colour printing error from 1855, the Inverted Jenny on which the plane was inverted by mistake, and the Blue Mauritius, a Mauritius stamp from 1847.
These stamps are treasures that can sell for several thousand euros, but often only the eye of an expert can recognise them in the midst of a collection.
Philatelic treasures also include mounted balloons, stamps of the Cultural Revolution, mail archives, the vermilion franc, Kouang Tcheou and Free France, whether in albums or not.
Our expert Daniel Berrous is available to appraise your stamps and postcards.
Philately department sales calendar
Whatever your budget, our auctions offer a wide selection of stamps and postcards, carefully sectioned and authenticated. From tens to several hundred euros, the choice is vast among the items offered at auction.
The department organises two or three catalogued and online auctions each year. They are the place to be for all postcard lovers and stamp collectors. In fact, as a token of the confidence of the market and our customers, 99% of lots are sold.
These sales take place in the VV room, in the presence of an auctioneer responsible for raising the bidding price.
Don't hesitate to call on our specialists for an expert appraisal if, by any chance, while opening a cupboard you come across a few dusty treasures that could be given a new lease of life by auction.
