The Erinnyes. Ancient tragedy. Illustrated with compositions and etchings by François Kupka. Paris, Romagnol (Librairie de la collection des Dix), 1908. Small in-4 havane morocco, spine ribbed, gilt title, gilt garland on brown morocco listel and gilt fillets on boards and spine boxes, gilt head, counterplates framed with brown morocco listels, gilt fillets and gilt and mosaic corner motifs, light brown moire lining and endpaper, ill. cover and spine preserved, in edged slipcase (Ch. Meunier 1909). Spine very slightly oiled. 3 etched out-of-text compositions, 21 headpieces and 1 bas-de-lampe + cover, bas-de-lampe, colored woodcut page frames and 2 colored mastheads. Edition of 300 copies; n°52 of 100 on Japon or Arches (here on Japon), containing 3 states of the plates, including the pure etching, the state with remarks of the plates out of text and without remarks of the vignettes and the state with the letter and enriched here with an unsigned ORIGINAL DRAWING (ink, red chalk and pencil) of a study for the headband and border of a page (not retained in the edition). Complete with publisher's specimen in fine. A superb copy in a signed binding by Charles Meunier.
