Sapho. Paris, Magnier, 1897. In-4, red morocco, richly decorated smooth spine, triple gilt fillet on covers, double gilt fillet on edges, wide gilt inner border, gilt edges, covers preserved (Yseux). Compositions by Auguste-François Gorguet etched by Louis Muller: cover, title vignette, 15 header vignettes and 15 culs-de-lampe. Edition of 300 copies; one of 38 on chine extra-fort of the top 50 containing 3 states of all in-text illustrations (the last cul-de-lampe being in 4 states) as well as 4 states of the 16 out-of-text illustrations. Enriched with 6 L.A.S. from Jean-Paul Sinibaldi (2), Auguste François-Marie Gorguet (3) and Georges-Antoine Rochegrosse (1) about the book's illustration project, in which they agreed (except Rochegrosse) to participate.
