  • Description

DUCHÊNE (J. B. M.)

Poetry. Paris, , 1822. In-12 of [84] ff. carefully handwritten in brown ink. Red long-grained morocco, richly decorated smooth spine, gilt title, framed with garlands and gilt and cold fillets on the boards, gilt edges (period binding). Small gray stain on first cover. An apparently unpublished collection of poems, of which very little is known about the author. One long poem (of course) caught our attention: entitled "Montignac", could it link the author of this collection to the tax collector Joseph Duchêne, who acquired the famous house of the same name in the heart of this Dordogne town?
