MON AMI BRASSAÏ: signed PICASSO MY FRIEND PICASSO: signed BRASSAI EXCEPTIONAL SALE OF PICASSO DRAWINGS AND PHOTOGRAPHS FROM THE MASTER'S WORLD BY THE BRASSAÏ ESTATE NOVEMBER 14 This sale features works from the Brassaï Estate, marking the magical encounter between two geniuses. A talented artist, Brassaï developed an aesthetic marked by frontality and the predominance of subject over framing. When he met Picasso in 1932, he began immortalizing the sculptures in his studio with his camera. Once again, authenticity was at the heart of Brassaï's vision. Shooting, not taking a position, is what describes the artist's photographic work. He observes and captures all the materiality of Picasso's sculptures in a kind of almost plastic union of eye and hand. Thus, in his photographs, the sculpture is not the object of the composition: it is the composition. Picasso would credit Brassaï's photographs with giving him a fresh perspective on his own creations. In the end, this meeting gave rise to a shared respect and fascination for each other's personalities and, even more so, for each other's work. Thus, in 1949, Brassaï published Conversation avec Picasso, intended as an intimate account of his unique collaboration with Picasso.
