bearing a label "Johannes Baptista Guadagnini... 1732" and a handwritten signature "JU LAVEST". Two-piece back in beautiful maple with horizontal waves. Sides and head of the same wood. Spruce top with moderately fine pores in the center, widening at the edges. Orange-brown varnish on gold background. With box and study bow. 355 mm. French violin made by LAVEST bearing the signature.
