carrying a monumental jar on his back. His face wears a gentle, serene expression despite the weight of his load. He directs his gaze symbolically to the ground, and leans on powerful, massive legs. Coffee-red and orange terracotta, traces of manganese oxides, good overall condition Colima, Comala, Western Mexico, 100 B.C.-250 A.D. 36.3 x 23.6 x 26.2 cm Provenance: former Emeric Huguet collection, 1968.
