GARDE

*Notable pendant representing a human head. It is distinguished by the intense green of its stone and its beautiful shiny patina. The hair is marked by two roughly parallel grooves that form three bumps at the top of the head, two small ones on the sides and one large one in the center. The facial features are delicate. The hollows of the eyes and mouth are indicated by a shallow indentation. The nose and lips are more pronounced. The nostrils are drilled and slightly offset. The earlobes are pierced with small holes. The reverse of the pendant is deeply carved. Three perforations appear around the chin. Two holes, much larger than the others, can also be seen at the temples. Green jadeite with traces of cinnabar and large speckled white spots on the right side of the face Maya - Mexico, 450 - 750 A.D. 2.4 x 3.7 x 2.1 cm Provenance : - Former Yvon Collet collection since 1968 - Galerie Mermoz, 2003
