Romain BEOT
\\\\\*Standing figure
- Description
\\\\\*Standing figure
one arm at his side and one of his forearms raised, his hands in a symbolic gesture. He wears a rectangular loincloth belt that falls elegantly over his thigh. His legs are powerful and his torso swells with strength. His face bears an authoritative expression, accentuated by an open mouth and eyes directed at the ground. His distended earlobes were originally intended to receive ornaments befitting his rank. His head is encircled by a crown in the form of a headband with radiating excrescences. The position and attitude of this lord indicate that he is personified in a ceremony of enthronement and accession to power. Hollow beige-brown terracotta Veracruz - Totonaque, Mexico, 600 - 900 A.D.
