John Downman, né en 1750, est un portraitiste et peintre gallois.Il a exposé 148 œuvres à la Royal Academy entre 1769 et 1819, principalement des portraits, mais aussi des sujets fantaisistes, tels que "Rosalind", peint pour la galerie Shakespeare. En 1795, il est élu associé de l'Académie royale.
