In-8 tan morocco, five-ribbed spine, mosaic-decorated coffers (lotus flowers and mummy), gilt title, date on tail, framed by a series of multicolored mosaic squares, double fillet and garland of lotus flowers and gilt dots, central medallion and spandrel motifs decorated with polychrome mosaic lotus flowers, small fans, gilded dots and fillet, gilded edges on witnesses, midnight-blue moire lining and endpapers, interior framing of small mosaic listels in multicolored morocco, gilded fillets and small triangles, covers and illustrated spine preserved, not reproduced. illustrated covers and spines, untrimmed, in slipcase (E. Michon, rel.). Frontispiece, title and 32 wood-engraved color compositions by George BARBIER in the text by Gasperini. 2 supernumerary ff. of the work bound in the suite. Limited edition of 1000 copies; no. 14 of 67 on Japon, with a suite of line illustrations on Japon, in black, sepia or blue. A very fine untrimmed copy with full margins, on Japon, in an attractive signed mosaic binding.
