These are the various games of the Petits Polissons de Paris. S. l., s. n., [Second half of the 19th century]. 7 pl. (28 x 18 cm) in ff. modern dominoté paper box, red title to upper board and spine, brown closing laces [Virginie Fonlupt]. Rare suite of 6 charming figures drawn by Saint-Aubin, finely engraved with burin. The print, made on Van Gelder Zonen Holland paper, probably dates from the second half of the 19th century. A color reproduction of the first inverted figure, from another print run, is included. These plates did not escape the notice of Goncourt, who, in L'Art du dix-huitième siècle, noted: ""Voulez-vous voir le Sabot, la Fossette ou le Jeu de noyaux, la Toupie, la Corde, le Coupe-tête et la Sortie du collège, et l'enfance culottée court, entricornée, poudrée, et la queue sautillante entre les épaules? Oh! the gentle miniatures of men, whose whole defect is to be a little too much Amours de fleuron et cul-de-lampe!"" Trace of glue along the inner margin, the ff. having probably been previously mounted on tabs. (Cohen, col. 923; Colas, no. 2615; E. et J. de Goncourt, L'Art du dix-huitième siècle, 1873, I, p. 494).
