Sculptor to the king and member of the Royal Academy of Painting and Sculpture, Christophe-Gabriel Allegrain (1710-1795) was a professor of sculpture at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris.
"La Baigneuse" or "Venus in the Bath" is a work created by the sculptor, presented in marble during the reign of Louis XV at the Salon of 1767. The original is kept in the Louvre Museum.
