Cabinet attributed to Paolo BUFFA (1903-1970)...

Cabinet attributed to Paolo BUFFA (1903-1970) in rosewood with four upper and lower doors separated by crossbars, and four drawers at the bottom surmounted by an alcove. Duct frame. The four doors are each illustrated with an engraving from the "Amours Pastorales de Daphnis et Chloé", written by Longus (IIIrd or IInd century).

Brass locks and drawer handles.

The four coloured engravings represent: Licoenion listens to Daphnis and Chloe looking for a remedy of Love, Grape harvest where Daphnis and Chloe are admired, Daphnis makes his goats obey to the sound of the flute and the Wedding of Daphnis and Chloe.

Audran, engraver dated 1714, inventor and designer Philipus, the Regent Philippe d'Orléans.

Italian architect and designer, Paolo Buffa (1903-1970) distinguished himself from other creators by his refined works in the neo-classical and art deco style which was a modernist movement in the middle of the 20th century.
