Marites Van Vianen

Biographie : I express myself through making figurative paintings. My focus are paintings with women subjects which intend to empower more women like me. I came from a poor country. In most cases we are judged by our race, religion and appearance. That inspired me to use my talent to show the world that we can all be equal if we will allow it. That through painting we can see different perspectives, different angles, different minds but one heart. I learned how to paint when I’m already 42 years old. I believe that there’s a reason why God has given me a talent that in my life, i would ever imagine possessing— Motivation. I would like to be an example to all women of my circumstance to NEVER stop finding your motivation. Life will workout if you don’t give up. Never look at yourself and think that you can only do a certain thing inside your cage. You can always find the key and open the lock. I want you to know through my pieces how it seems to be when you already get out of the cage. I never stop exploring for new materials, textures, palettes like how we should be in life. What fascinates me about my artistic medium is to pull the viewer into 2 different views. I do glow in the dark theme because it shines like hope during dark times. A reminder of my advocacy, to find something when there seems nothing. It also lead me to do different kinds of approach according to my mood.
