Selon le récit du Ramayana, le démon Mahisha se transforme en buffle aux côtés de son armée, lorsqu'il combat la déesse Durga accompagnée de sa monture, le tigre. Dans le ciel, sont représentés les dieux Brahma, Vishnu et Shiva, du feu sortant leur bouche. Au premier plan, la rivière parsemée de nénuphars est peuplée de poissons.
Durga's victory over the demons, Marwar, late 19th century
when Mahisha, the head of army of the demons, is slayed by Durga. As narrated in the Ramayan, the demon Mahisha turned in the form of a buffalo. Durga with ten arms and ridign a tiger, is carrying all the weapons of the deities. The gods (Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva) in their heavenly vehicles, breath flames from their mouth.
