Deux tortues sont situées sur le couvercle abattant, les deux autres - interprétées comme dans la mythologie chinoise - soutiennent le réceptacle en formant base. Signé "F. Barbedienne". H : 10,2 cm (charnière du couvercle en partie cassée, rayures) Dans la mythologie chinoise la tortue est associée au lièvre, elle est aussi celle qui porte le monde. De plus les carapaces de tortues font parties des premiers supports de l'écriture en Chine, il y a 3500 ans environ.
